California: San Diego


San Diego, located just north of the Mexican border across from Tijuana is home to 1.3 million people and is the second-largest city in California.

It is known for its ideal climate, where the average monthly temperatures range from the upper 50s in January to the mid-70s in August.

Balboa Park

Located in the heart of the city, Balboa is a 1,200-acre urban park, home to many amazing museums such as the San Diego Museum of Art, and the renowned San Diego Zoo. There are also several recreational facilities, gift shops and restaurants.

San Diego Zoo & Safari Park

The San Diego Zoo is situated on 100 acres of parkland within Balboa Park and home to over 3,700 animals.



Located in Escondido, CA the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is designed to allow animals to live in a more natural environment. The exhibits are large and spread out therefore the best way to experience the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is by taking advantage of the tours and trams.



Sea World

Sea World, a 22-acre marine zoological park along the shore of the Mission Bay was founded in 1964 by four UCLA grauduates who had envisioned opening up an underwater restaurant.




Lego Land

The Lego Land theme park is suited for families with younger children (11 and under).  Although they do have a number of roller coasters, a greater emphasis is placed on rides suitable for younger children.




USS Midway Museum

The USS Midway was America's longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, from 1945 to 1992.  Today it serves as a maritime museum located in downtown San Diego in Navy Pier.






The 11,179 foot-long Coronado Bridge crossing over the San Diego Bay links the city of San Diego with Coronado, California.

Hotel del Coronado

When Hotel del Coronado opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world. Over the years, it has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities and has been featured in numerous movies and books.

It s one of the oldest and largest all-wooden structures in California and was designated a National Historical Landmark in 1977.

Old Town Trolley Tours

The Old Town Trolley Tours offer a two-hour, fully narrated, historic city tour of San Diego and Coronado. The tour covers approximately 25 miles and over 100 points of interest. Guests can get on and off at several stops and tour at their own pace throughout the day.

The tour stops include: Old Town,San Diego Harbor, Seaport Village, Horton Plaza, Marriott/Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, Hilton Bayfront, Coronado, Little Italy and Balboa Park.
